TRACK - Rovaniemi150
Rovaniemi150, 19.-22 February 2016
The race starts and finishes in Rovaniemi and runs through the wilderness around the city.
The all track is a mixture of trails, forest roads and roads. The track also traverse a frozen river and a couple of frozen lakes. The trail is marked with stakes, plastic ribbon and reflective tape. There are eigth (8) mandatory checkpoints.
Except in Sinettäjärvi checkpoint, in all checkpoints racers will find a camp fire, basic shelter and water.
Days before the race starts, all trails are previously tracked and pressed by snowmobile to facilitate the passage. The final result is as good as the weather let it. That means that in good conditions racers will find the track hard and mostly smoth, but this not always happen. Even not all sections have the same conditions.
As an exemple, in Rovaniemi150 in 2012 the bike winner spend 31 h. 45 min while in 2015 the bike winner did it in 10 h. 40 min.
